Abstract

 

ABSTRACT

                                    The thesis titled “the Attitude towards Death in Theravada Buddhism: A Case Study of Students from the Classroom of Watchaichumbhonchanasongkhram, Mahachulalonggornrajavidayalaya University, Kanchanaburi Province” has the following objectives : 1) to study the level of attitude towards death in Theravada Buddhism of students from the classroom of wat Chaichumbhonchana songkhram, Mahachulalongfornrajavidayalaya University, Kanchanaburi Province and 2) to compare the attitudes towards death in Thervada Buddhism of students from the classroom of wat Chaichumbhonchana songkhram, Mahachulalongfornrajavidayalaya University, Kanchanaburi Province personal factors. The sample were145 students from the classroom of Watchaichumbhonchanasongkhram, Mahachulalongfornrajavidayalaya University, Kanchanaburi Province. The tool used was the questionnaire on the attitude towards death in Theravada Buddhism The data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation. The statistics used to test the hypothesis were Independent samples, F-test (one-way ANOVA)

 

 

                                    The study found that

                        1.     General Information

                        52 respondents (35.9%)were in the 35-44 years old age group. 50 respondents (34.49%)were in  first  years of study. 71 respondents (49.0%) were ordainined more than 10 years. 119 respondents (82.12%) abstained the third level of Dhamma studies. 18 respondents (12.4%) obtained Pali TV and 13 respondents obtained pali III

                        2.     The Level of the attitude towards death

                        The overall attitude towards death (  = 3.51) under the “feeling” aspect was                   (  = 3.67) and under the “behavior” at aspect was (  = 3.56) were at and high level. Whereas the mean attitude under cognitive aspect was at moderate level.

                        3.     The comparative analysis

                        The overall attitudes towards death did not different by ages, years of study, durations of study Dhamma studies ,pali studies

                                1)    The cognitive aspect : The attitudes towards death did not differ by different ages years of study, durations of study, Dhamma studies and pali studies

                                2)    The feeling aspect : The attitude towards death did not Dhamma atudies and       Pali studies

                                3)    The behavioral aspect : the attitude towards death did not diff by different ages, years of study, durations of study, Dhamma studies and Pali studies.
